A select group of Financial service executives, family office heads and Fund managers serve as our UK Co-chairmen. It is through their personal knowledge and extensive relationships, in partnership with the US Commerce Department and the US Embassy, that we are able to ensure a quality selection of LPs attend the Trade Mission.

Sunaina Sina, Founder and managing partner,
Winner of Best Placement Agent Award of 2015

Sunaina Sinha is the founder and Managing Partner of Cebile Capital, a placement agent and secondaries advisor. Under her leadership, Cebile Capital has quickly become one of the leading advisors in private equity and infrastructure. Cebile Capital has raised exceptional mid-market funds and served as an advisor to both buyers and sellers of a significant number of secondaries deals. In 2015, Sunaina was named Best Placement Agent and Winner of the European Emerging Leaders Awards.

Prior to founding Cebile Capital, Sunaina worked at Brevan Howard, a $40 billion asset manager, where she was in charge of marketing and investor relations in Asia, Middle East and Australia. Earlier, she worked at Bridgewater Associates, an $82 billion asset manager, where she covered investors in Europe, Middle East, Asia and the United States.

Sunaina is also an angel investor and Non-Executive Director. She serves as Executive Chairperson of the Board of Barrecore, Europe’s largest luxury fitness boutique, and as Chairperson of the Board of Mindful Chef. She also serves as Business Advisor to the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED). Sunaina has also been a Guest Lecturer at Stanford University in masters level courses in the School of Engineering, including Global Entrepreneurial Marketing and Global Entrepreneurial Leadership. She has written and published case studies for the Stanford Technology Ventures Program in the Stanford School of Engineering.

Sunaina obtained a BS in Management Science and Engineering and an MS in Chemical Engineering, both from Stanford University where she was also a Mayfield Fellow. Sunaina has an MBA from Harvard Business School.

In her spare time, Sunaina is a keen wine enthusiast, having qualified as a Certified Sommelier from the Court of Masters Sommeliers. She also serves on the London Committee of Human Rights Watch.

Pete Flynn, Director,

Pete set up Candela Capital in 2003 to meet the distribution needs of small- to mid-sized funds that want a personalised, long-term relationship with a distribution partner. His 25 years of experience with Pantheon Ventures, InvestorForce, Fleming Asset Management and NM Rothschild & Sons give him a unique insight into the needs of institutional investors — whether pension funds, private banks, family offices, insurance companies or fund-of-funds. Pete holds BA (Hons) and MA degrees in Economics from Cambridge University and an Investment Management Diploma from the London Business School, is a Governor of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and is a local Parish Councillor.

Eric Anderson, Managing Partner and Investment Director,

Eric Anderson, Managing Partner and Investment Director at Milltrust International LLP brings nearly 15 years of international investment industry experience in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has successful track record in building an award-winning asset management business and an industry-recognised investment research and consultancy firm. He has spent nearly a decade focused exclusively on the Emerging Markets where he has extensive experience setting strategic fund allocations for institutional investors, researching local investment managers, providing investment research and full due diligence capabilities and structuring and seeding a number of fund strategies in these regions. He has established a highly credible reputation within the Emerging Markets industry and is a frequent commentator at industry conferences and in the financial media.

In December 2010, he co-founded Milltrust International Group, an investment organisation focusing exclusively on investment management expertise in the Frontier and Emerging Markets, and offering specialist real asset solutions driven by the changing demographics of the developing world. He is currently the head of the Milltrust London office and is responsible for running Milltrust’s Investment Solutions and Multi-Manager Managed Accounts business.

Mr. Anderson began his career as an auditor and performance analyst for fixed income, equity and derivative products at State Street Global Advisors, and was most recently Managing Partner at Think Alternative Advisors LLP, an independent FCA-authorised emerging markets research and advisory firm he co-founded in 2009 which was formally acquired by Milltrust International Group in 2011.

He is a candidate for CFA Level 3 and has a degree in International Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He speaks fluent English and French and is conversational in Spanish. 

Alexander Kalis, Managing Partner and Investment Director,

Alexander Kalis, Managing Partner & Investment Director at Milltrust International LLP, has over 14 years’ experience working at top-tier asset management firms including LCF Edmond de Rothschild and Banco Santander where he managed some of the largest Emerging Markets multi-manager/fund of hedge funds in the industry across all asset classes. He has an award-winning portfolio management track record and has an extensive network of relationships and coverage of the Emerging Markets fund universe. 

In December 2010, he co-founded Milltrust International Group. He currently heads Manager Research for the Group, jointly manages the Multi-Manager Managed Accounts UCITS business, co-heads the Milltrust London office and manages the business generally.

Mr. Kalis started his career at LCF Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management in London in 2001 and oversaw Asian and Emerging Markets hedge fund manager research for the award-winning Asian Capital Holdings Fund with peak assets of $1.3 billion. Most recently he was Managing Partner at Think Alternative Advisors LLP, an independent FCA-authorised Emerging Markets research and advisory firm he co-founded in 2009 which was formally acquired by Milltrust International Group in 2011.  Before this he was Portfolio Manager of the Optimal Asian Opportunities Fund with peak assets of $300 million and co-PM of the Optimal Global Opportunities Fund at Banco Santander’s Alternative Investment Group in London which he joined in 2007.

He is a frequent commentator at industry conferences and in the financial media, speaks fluent English and French and holds a Master’s degree in economics and management from the University Catholique de Louvain in Belgium. 

Richard Evans, Managing Partner,

DeBere Partners is an independent corporate finance boutique focused on raising capital for growth companies and alternative funds, headquartered in London, and with a network of partners in Asia and North America. As managing partner, Richard oversees DeBere Capital Partners fundraising services business. With his international network of clients and investors, he is also personally involved in the raising of funds.

He has over 16 years’ experience in investment management, mergers and acquisitions, alternative finance and the TMT Sector. Before joining DeBere Capital Partners he was an advisor on business development and channel management to the private client arm of an institutional advisory firm with $60 billion of assets under advice.

He has worked as a consultant advising global family offices on alternative investments and structuring private equity. He began his career at a leading UK stockbrokers before working as an analyst for a high profile UK investment management company, moving on to head the sales function for a number of alternative funds. Richard has successfully advised a number alternative funds and technology companies on financing rounds and strategy.

He is currently partner and chief business officer of Mann Bio Pathfinder LLC, a UK biotechnology fund, a director of Sulis and Thermae, a luxury UK retail business, and managing director of Coast Development LLC, a New York-based luxury real estate firm.

Kaiser Jasrai, Managing Director,

Founded in 1983 with over 60 professionals across seven offices in North America, Europe and Asia, Eaton is a full service fund advisory and placement firm, raising institutional capital for investment managers across a full range of alternative strategies in both the primary and secondary market. Partnering with a select number of the highest-quality fund managers, Eaton Partners has represented some of the most innovative funds of the last three decades. In January 2016, Eaton Partners became a wholly owned subsidiary and affiliate of Stifel Financial Corp., a leading middle-market investment bank.

Kaiser Jasrai is a Managing Director in Eaton Partners’ London offices. He focuses on European distribution of the firm’s private equity, real assets, real estate and hedge fund offerings with over ten years of financial services experience. Prior to joining Eaton Partners, he was a Director for Wedge Alternatives in London, a global boutique placement agent raising institutional capital for private equity, real assets, real estate and hedge funds. Before that he was Director at Scimitar Private Equity, an emerging markets private equity firm, and at Standard Chartered Bank as Associate Director of Global Institutional Sales in the Middle East. He began his career at UBS Investment Bank in London within the Alternative Investment Strategies business.

Kaiser Jasrai holds a Masters from the London School of Economics and a BA from the University of Oxford, Hertford College. He is a native English speaker and has basic knowledge of German and Arabic. He is licensed with the FCA in Europe.

Ankush Mehta, Founder and CEO,

Bespoke Connections is a leading, independent consultancy matching Family Offices, Private Clients and Institutional Investors to specialist managers and direct investment opportunities across mainstream and alternative asset classes. Ankush Mehta is an entrepreneur with fifteen years of senior management experience across various industry sectors, including: Investment, Finance, Legal, Health Care, Energy and IT. He sits on the executive board and has responsibility for the group’s operations in UK, Europe and Asia.

Mr Mehta has spent the last 10 years working closely with C‐Level Executives from Institutional Investors, Family Offices, Asset Managers, Lawyers and General Counsel. Before Bespoke Connections, he led the Investments & Legal division for a leading international business development consultancy (Strategy Insights), responsible for managing bespoke business models to bridge the gap between C‐level decision makers from Institutional Investors and Family Offices to General Counsel, Lawyers and Asset managers.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (specializing in Finance) from Oxford Brookes University.

Summary

In cooperation with the US Department of Commerce International Trade Administration, US Commercial Service, and the US Embassy in London, you are invited to apply to join the US Commerce Department Certified Trade Mission to London, which will introduce a small, select group of US fund managers to meet pre-screened institutional investors from the UK’s largest insurance companies, pension funds, foundations, high net worth individuals, and family offices. The Mission is certified by the U.S. Department of Commerce, and organized by Katsof Consulting.

The Certified Trade Mission is not a conference. It is a tightly structured and very focused fund raising event designed to provide U.S. fund managers the opportunity to meet potential LPs in London from the largest Institutions and family offices.

There have been fifty-five other Certified Trade Missions globally, to thirty-two cities, with the goal of helping promote US economic growth by providing a forum to encourage and stimulate increased foreign business investment in the United States. Over five hundred US-based financial services general partners have traveled on one or more of the fifty-five certified trade missions to thirty-two cities around the world since 2012.

GP Delegate Selection Criteria

Attendees must be invited to participate in this mission. Invitees represent a select group of top US private equity, venture capital, infrastructure, real estate, and hedge funds. The group will consist of senior executives and will have a mix of GPs with diverse investment strategies, sector focuses, and geographic preferences.

Attendance in the Certified Trade Mission to London, UK is limited to twelve US Funds and a maximum of eighteen participants from these funds to maximize the level of overall access and one-on-one meeting opportunities with the institutional attendees. Based on past interest and participation, we expect demand to be very high. Attendees will be accepted on a rolling basis up until the deadline of June 1, 2016. PAST TRADE MISSIONS HAVE SOLD OUT FIVE WEEKS IN ADVANCE, SO REGISTER EARLY TO AVOID DISAPOINTMENT.

Alternative Asset Fund Managers—Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Venture Capital Funds—will be selected according to the following criteria:

  • Minimum of AUM $50 million
  • Diverse investment strategies, sector focuses and geographic preferences.
  • Sound management and accounting practices.

The Mission will provide:

  • One-on-one meetings with the leading UK investors.
  • An opportunity to meet institutional limited partner investors from the UK’s largest insurance companies, institutions, and pension funds.
  • An opportunity to meet investment managers of the leading family offices and high net worth individuals.
  • Opportunities for intimate interaction between U.S. GPs and UK LPs.
  • Promote US PE, infrastructure, real estate, VC, and alternative asset funds.
  • Introduce US PE, infrastructure, real estate, VC, and alternative asset funds to UK LPs.

UK LPs have been invited by our UK national co-chairmen and the US embassy in London. We expect strong attendance from more than twenty-five highly qualified pension funds and insurance companies, banks, single- and multi-family offices, wealth management advisors, and high net worth individuals that either have an exposure to US alternative assets or have expressed an interest in doing so in the future. This Certified Trade Mission will provide you the opportunity for one-on-one private meetings with each LP in attendance.

In Hong Kong we had forty-one LP meetings and in Singapore over fifty LPs attended one of the two events.

Six Hundred LPs have been identified as potential UK Institutional and family office attendees. The LP list will be qualified further once the US delegation is selected to ensure compatibility with the US Funds attending.

8:30- 9:00 Networking and Registration of US GP delegates and UK LP delegates in the foyer of the Whitehall Ballroom.

9:00 – 12:00 One-on-one meetings, Whitehall Ballroom 1 & 2
Members of the US delegation will meet one-on-one with each investment professional from the leading UK institutions, insurance companies, pension funds, and family offices. Each attendee will meet with each UK LP. Meetings will be approximately twenty minutes long.

12:00 – 1:30 Lunch, Whitehall Ballroom Foyer
A Buffet Lunch will be served. It will be an opportunity for the GPs and LPs to continue their discussions in an informal setting.
